Amanda (9/21)

Today we had another home game against Brewton-Parker. We really wanted to end on a high note before conference play started. As a defender my main goal is to keep a clean sheet and help attack as much as I can. I think today as a team we improved on our passes and communication. We are all looking forward to see how we play against tougher competition this weekend against Georgia College and State University.

Zada (9/19)

Yesterday’s game against La Grange was a game that we had to win. We have had so many close games and have not gotten the result that we wanted. Yesterday we went into our game ready to get some goals and come out on top with a win. After a strong and intense warm-up, we were all pumped up and ready to go. We scored early in the match which was really good for us because we kept striving for goal number two. We achieved that in the middle of the first half so at half time it was 2-0. We knew we had to put one more in the back of the net to be sure that we had the game in the bag. We definitely wanted that third goal all right, scoring 30 seconds into the second half. We kept up the intensity throughout the rest of the game and came out with a big 3-0 win!

Nicole (9/12)

Going into the game against West Alabama on Friday, our team was confident and ready to showcase our talent at our home field. We had a few chances in the beginning to put them away but fell short in the end with a disappointing loss. Monday, we played Palm Beach Atlantic in a very close, well fought match. We stepped up and played hard with many chances throughout the game. After Palm Beach put one away to make the score 1-0, it was all about offense for the Lady Canes. We kept the pressure on their half with chance after chance to score but couldn’t knock one in. These tough losses are only a learning experience for the entire team and we hope to bounce back with a win this weekend.

Night & Day…..

Opening weekend, need I say more. We opened the 2011 season at Valdosta State University on Thursday evening in front of almost 1,600 fans for the first ever soccer match at VSU. It was a great atmosphere and one that will be hard to duplicate. We want to give the VSU program and university a big "well done" for putting on such a terrific event. Now onto the match. Well….. the first 20 minutes were great as we kept up and played with a very good and enthusiastic team. I was proud of our entire team to keep working and believing even once the game was out of reach. To VSU’s credit, they were riding a high all night and deserved the result they got. We knew we had to go back to GSW and re-group for another tough match on Saturday with Queens University from North Carolina.

That’s what we did. We made a few tactical changes and re-confirmed that we were better than we showed opening night. We came out with our heads held high, chests out and the pedal to the floor from the opening whistle. We controlled the match and believed from the beginning we could get the result if we all stuck to our game plan and played to our potential for the entire 90 minutes. We did that and walked away with a result of a 3-1 victory. It was nice to see the goals come from "rookies", but I was more proud of how the entire team got this result. We all worked Friday on the changes and from reserves to starters we were one unit. It was great to see the "team" support one another. Irrelevant of the result, I was most happy that we out-worked the opposition. With that being said, the team earned a nice trip to DQ for a post game treat.

Now, back to work for our home opener with West Alabama on Friday at 5 pm. We hope to see you all there and appreciate all your support.

Ally (9/1)

I cant believe we have already been training together for nearly a month. It has all flown by so fast, and we already are starting our games today. We are all very excited and anxious to play Valdosta later today, and we all want to win so badly. I hope that all of our hard work so far can help us pull out a win.

This game should be a test of how well we know each other on the field and how well we can stand together under pressure. In the end, we should become stronger, no matter what the outcome. I hope that we can turn the pressure of this first game into momentum and that we can start this season with a foot forward.

Today was our first victory in our exhibition game against South Georgia College!
For it being our first game together, we all did very well working together, communicating, and seeing our hard preseason work paying off. We plan to continue the hard work in our practices to get THAT much better and gain THAT many more victories!

Today was the first day of classes. Being a freshman, I was excited to finally get things started and meet new friends in class. After finding my way perfectly to my first two classes, I got lost for my third. Thanks to nursing students and teammates Ally and Amanda for helping me find my class and making it on time. After a long day of classes I made my way to the fields for practice!
